Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson dealing with mild calf strain

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson only suffered a mild strain in his right calf, an MRI revealed.

What It Means:

"It's not a significant [strain]," general manager Ross Atkins said Monday. "So we're optimistic that he'll be back on his feet and moving pretty quickly." The injury occurred while Donaldson was running sprints last Friday, but he should be good to go by Opening Day.

Across 700 plate appearances in 2016, Donaldson cranked 37 home runs and 99 RBI's while slashing .284/.404/.549 with a 15.6 percent walk rate and 17.0 percent strikeout rate.
