Mets' Zack Wheeler (elbow) completes Sunday bullpen session
New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (elbow) threw a 21-pitch bullpen session on Sunday.
Wheeler experienced some tenderness during last week's session, but he made it through Sunday issue-free. It's an encouraging sign for the 26-year-old right-hander after missing the past two seasons due to problems with his arm. Health permitting, Wheeler is in good position to secure the final spot in the Mets' rotation.
Wheeler showed lots of promise when he last pitched in 2014, posting a 3.49 xFIP and a 23.5 strikeout percentage (league average was 20.4) across 185 1/3 innings.
