Padres agree to one-year deal with Jered Weaver
The San Diego Padres have agreed to a one-year deal with starting pitcher Jered Weaver according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
Weaver will earn a $3 million salary this season, so it looks like he will fit in somewhere in the Padres' rotation. Weaver is coming off a down year, but pitching in San Diego's Petco Park could allow him to rebound from a very poor 2016 season.
Weaver had a 5.06 ERA and 5.64 xFIP last season, which were easily career worst marks for the veteran. He had just a 13.4 strikeout rate and 1.46 WHIP across 178 innings pitched.
