Michael Brantley not expected to be ready for Indians' first spring game

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley (shoulder) isn't expected to be ready for the first spring game, manager Terry Francona said on Wednesday.

What It Means:

Brantley hasn't suffered any sort of setback, but the Indians are going to take a conservative approach with him coming off biceps surgery. It's unknown whether or not Brantley will be ready for the start of the season.

Brantley only played 11 games in the majors last season, and he did not hit well, slashing .231/.279/.282 in 43 plate appearances. He posted a .389 wOBA in 2014 and followed it up with a .368 wOBA in 2015.
