Angels' Garrett Richards (elbow) says he feels 100 percent
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Garrett Richards (elbow) threw his first bullpen session last Friday and said he feels 100 percent normal.
Richards suffered a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament last season, and this is fantastic news after he opted for rest and stem cell treatment rather than Tommy John surgery. He's expected to have a 100-pitch limit during the season as the Angels try to manage the righty's workload.
Richards spun a career-best 2.34 ERA last season, but it was over just 34 2/3 innings of work. He added a 1.33 WHIP and 23.0 strikeout percentage across six starts (1-4).
