Cincinnati Reds infielder Jose Peraza is in line to start at second base, manager Bryan Price confirmed on Monday.
This results from the trade that sent Brandon Phillips to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, leaving a vacancy at second base in Cincinnati. If everything goes well this spring, the 22-year-old Peraza carries plenty of fantasy upside heading into the 2017 season.
Peraza slashed .324/.352/.411 with a .331 wOBA across 256 plate appearances last season, all of which were improvements from his rookie campaign. He added 3 home runs and 21 stolen bases with 0.7 Wins Above Replacement.
