Jarrod Dyson to bat leadoff for the Mariners

The Seattle Mariners plan to try outfielder Jarrod Dyson at leadoff this spring, manager Scott Servais said Thursday.

What It Means:

Jean Segura would bat second for Seattle if the experiment works out. Dyson remains one of the fastest runners in the sport at age 32. Dyson would obviously carry serious fantasy value if he's able to grab that leadoff gig and hold onto it.

Dyson owns a weak .325 career on-base percentage at the major league level, but that number spiked to .340 in 2016, and he tallied 30 stolen bases in 107 games (83 starts) last summer.
