Kenley Jansen re-ups with Dodgers for five years, $80 million

Free agent reliever Kenley Jansen has agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to ESPN's Jim Bowden.

What It Means:

The Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals tried, but the 29-year-old Jansen reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to return to the Dodgers for the next lustrum. His new deal includes an opt-out clause after the 2019 season.

Jansen was superb with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016, turning in a 1.83 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 41.4 strikeout percentage across 68 2/3 innings of work.
