Cardinals trade Jaime Garcia to Braves
The Atlanta Braves have acquired starting pitcher Jaime Garcia from the St. Louis Cardinals according to Mark Saxon of ESPN.com.
The New York Post and SB Nation reports that St. Louis will get back three prospects in the deal including pitchers Chris Ellis and John Gant, along with infielder Luke Dykstra. The Braves have been racking up on veteran starting pitching this offseason and Garcia stands to pitch in the back half of their rotation to start the year if he isn't traded again. He has one year left on his contract before free agency.
Over 171 2/3 innings last season, Garcia had a 4.67 ERA and 3.77 xFIP. He had a modest 20.2% strikeout rate, but his 3.93 SIERA was his worst since his rookie campaign.
