Charlie Morton signs two-year deal with Astros
The Houston Astros came to terms with right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton on a two-year, $14 million contract.
The details come from FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. Morton was limited to only 17 1/3 innings with the Philadelphia Phillies last season due to a severe right hamstring strain that required surgery. The two-year deal is a slight surprise, but he'll definitely be a reliable option at the back-end of Houston's rotation.
Morton was off to a decent start last season with a 4.15 ERA and 26.8 strikeout percentage through four games. He's posted a 3.97 ERA in 111 starts (641 2/3 innings) since 2011.
