Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu has opted out of his current contract with the White Sox and will be arbitration-eligible this offseason.
Abreu remains under team control through 2019 and will now have the opportunity to make some more dollars through arbitration. He was previously due $34 million over the next three years.
Abreu has batted .299/.360/.515 and averaged 30 homers with 103 RBI's in his first three seasons with the White Sox (662 plate appearances per year).
