Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson has accepted the club's one-year, $17.2 million qualifying offer.
Hellickson and Neil Walker are the only two free agents to accept qualifying offers from their clubs. The 29-year-old right-hander likely could have fetched a long-term deal on the open market, but not at $17.2 million per.
Hellickson will look to turn in another strong campaign for the Phillies in 2017 after recording a 3.71 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 19.9 strikeout percentage across 189 innings last season.
