Cubs' Ben Zobrist drives in game-winning run, named World Series MVP
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ben Zobrist hit a go-ahead RBI double in the 10th inning of the Cubs' Game 7 win over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night, and was named World Series MVP.
Zobrist turned in a solid series all around, recording 10 hits and three walks through the seven games, but none were as important as his series winner, which may well proved to be the most important hit of his career.
Our models favored the Cubs in this series, including in Game 7 last night, and they finished the season ranking first in our nERD power rankings with a 1.87.
