Red Sox's youngster Yoan Moncada injured thumb last week
Yoan Moncada suffered a thumb injury last week while batting in the Arizona Fall League.
Moncada didn't suffer any broken bones, according to a baseball source via Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald. He hasn't played since Friday and is 7-for-24 so far in the AFL, with one jack, three walks and 10 whiffs.
Moncada turned in only 20 major league plate appearances this season and finished with a .228 wOBA and a whopping 60.0 percent strikeout rate during his brief time in the big leagues. In the minors, the talented 21-year-old slashed .294/.407/.511 with 15 home runs and 45 stolen bags across 491 plate appearances.
