Carlos Santana could spend time in left when Indians go to Wrigley
Cleveland Indians first baseman Carlos Santana "might" play some left field when the World Series shifts to Wrigley Field in Chicago for Games 3, 4, and 5, manager Terry Francona said on Tuesday.
This would allow Francona to keep both Santana and Mike Napoli in the starting lineup when things shift to Wrigley Field, meaning there will be no designated hitter. Santana hasn't played in a major league outfield since 2012, but he was seen catching flyballs in left field during team workouts Monday. For Game 1 on Tuesday, Santana is serving as the DH while hitting fifth against Cubs starter Jon Lester.
Santana is slashing .172/.250/.379 across 32 plate appearances this postseason, recording a pair of home runs along the way.
