Angels' C.J. Cron (left thumb) goes under knife

Los Angeles Angels first baseman C.J. Cron underwent surgery Tuesday to repair damage in his left thumb.

What It Means:

Cron dealt with lingering issues throughout the season after breaking his left hand back in July. He's facing a six-to-eight week timetable of rest and rehab, which would put him in place to return for spring training next February.

The 26-year-old slashed .278/.325/.467 with 16 home runs and 69 RBI's in 445 plate appearances (116 games) this season for the Angels.
