Cubs using Kyle Schwarber as designated hitter in Game 1
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will serve as the designated hitter against the Cleveland Indians in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday, manager Joe Maddon said during a radio appearance on Monday.
Schwarber will return to the lineup for the first time since early April after he tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee. It's a significant gamble for the Cubs, but we wouldn't expect anything less from manager Joe Maddon. Corey Kluber is on the mound for the Indians in Game 1.
Schwarber was limited to just five plate appearances in 2016 and hasn't been active for the postseason run. numberFire's models give the Cubs a 64.4 percent chance of defeating the Indians in the World Series.
