Kyle Schwarber (knee) in line to be on Cubs' World Series roster

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber (knee) is expected to be activated for the World Series, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, who reports that "all signs point" to him being part of the Cubs' roster.

What It Means:

An official still won't be made until Schwarber meets the team in Cleveland on Tuesday ahead of Game 1, but all things sound good so far after he turned in some work in the Arizona Fall League. The main concern is that the Cubs wouldn't be able to replace Schwarber if something acts up and he's unable to play. It's the sort of high-risk, high-reward proposition that manager Joe Maddon loves. Schwarber would be limited to designated-hitting duties in Cleveland, and pinch-hitting duties in Chicago.

Schwarber was limited to just five plate appearances in 2016 and hasn't been active for the postseason run. numberFire's models give the Cubs a 63.4 percent chance of defeating the Indians in the World Series.
