Royals' Wade Davis drawing lots of trade interest
Kansas City Royals pitcher Wade Davis is drawing "a lot of trade calls," reports Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
Davis "appears to be available at the right price," according to Heyman, as the Royals look to cut some payroll this offseason. The 31-year-old right-hander is due just $10 million in 2017 after the Royals pick up his option, so he carries plenty of appeal for potential suitors.
Davis turned in a sparkling 1.87 ERA in 43 1/3 innings this season, but his 3.68 xFIP was significantly higher. Despite posting a strikeout percentage (26.7) in 2016 that was down from totals in the 30's the past two seasons, it remained above league average (21.1 percent).
