Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera won't need knee surgery

New York Mets shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera will not require surgery for his left knee injury.

What It Means:

Cabrera played through a strained patella tendon all season after suffering it during spring training. He served a brief stint on the disabled list at the start of August, but finished the year scorching hot at the plate (.345 batting average across 148 plate appearances in August and September). Doctors recently determined that surgery won't be required.

In his age-30 season, Cabrera hit .280/.336/.474 with a .345 wOBA in 568 plate appearances this season. His .810 OPS was a career-high and he added 23 home runs as well.
