Russell Martin goes yard, drives in winner as Blue Jays sweep Texas

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin rocketed one, and then plated the game's winning run in the 10th inning on Sunday as the Blue Jays completed their sweep of the Texas Rangers in the American League Divisional Series with a 7-6 victory.

What It Means:

Toronto took an early 3-1 lead courtesy of Martin's one-run dinger in the first inning, and then he finished things off in the 10th on a ground ball to short with two men on and one out. An inaccurate throw to first from Rougned Odor forced Mitch Moreland off the bag, spoiling the double play attempt and allowing a scurrying Josh Donaldson to hightail it home, putting the kibosh on the Rangers' postseason hopes. Toronto will kick off the American League Championship Series versus a to-be-determined opponent on Friday.

The production was Martin's first sign of life this postseason, and he's now slashing .063/.167/.250 in 18 plate appearances.
