Jeff Samardzija lasts only two innings in Giants' Game 2 loss
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija yielded six hits, four runs and one walk in two innings of work Saturday in the Giants’ loss to the Chicago Cubs in Game 2 of the NLDS.
Samardzija did not perform well against his old team, yielding four earned runs and allowing eight of the first 12 batters he faced to reach base. He had only one punch out on the night and Saturday marked the shortest outing of his career. The Giants' even year magic is in serious jeopardy.
Overall Samardzija didn't have a bad year, posting a 3.81 ERA and 3.96 xFIP over 203 1/3 innings this season. However, his 4.13 SIERA was once again well above his career average of 3.79.
