Cody Allen secures a five-out save, Indians take 1-0 lead in ALDS
Cleveland Indians closer Cody Allen threw 40 pitches on Thursday, picking up a five-out save as Cleveland beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4 in Game 1 of the ALDS.
Allen gave up a double as soon as he entered the game, but he stranded a runner on third before allowing only one hit in a scoreless ninth inning, securing the save.
Allen finished the regular season with a 2.51 ERA and 2.90 SIERA through 68 innings pitched, while notching a 33.0 percent strikeout rate that is the second-best mark of his career.
