Yan Gomes earns spot on Indians' ALDS roster
Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes made the Indians' American League Divisional Series roster.
This is a pretty impressive feat for a player who fractured his hand on September 14 during a rehab outing for an AC joint separation in his right shoulder that occurred back in July. Gomes' comeback attempt was thought to be over at that point, but he crushed rehab and returned to action for Cleveland on September 30. The 29-year-old backstop, along with Chris Gimenez and Roberto Perez, will be available for catching duties as the Indians battle the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS.
Impressive recovery aside, it was a really disappointing year from the dish for Gomes, who slashed .167/.201/.327 with a career-low .225 wOBA through 264 plate appearances.
