Zach Britton was available for Orioles in Tuesday's Wild Card loss

Baltimore Orioles closer Zach Britton was available to play in the American League Wild Card Games on Tuesday, according to Orioles' manager Buck Showalter.

What It Means:

Birtton was phenomenal as the Orioles' closer this season, and the claim that he was available makes a lot of the Orioles' bullpen decisions real head-scratcher -- including going to Ubaldo Jimenez in the 11th, when he allowed a walkoff three-run home run.

Britton posted a phenomenal 0.54 ERA with a 1.74 SIERA through 67 innings in the regular season. He tallied a career-high 47 saves, and had a 29.1 percent strikeout rate.
