Rick Porcello is Boston's Game 1 starter for ALDS
The Boston Red Sox announced Sunday that starting pitcher Rick Porcello will start Game 1 of the ALDS against the Cleveland Indians.
Porcello has put up excellent numbers in his second season in Boston and despite David Price signing a huge contract this offseason, Porcello has been the Sox' consistent ace in 2016. Price will start Game 2 against Corey Kluber in a matchup of former Cy Young winners.
Porcello posted a 3.15 ERA and 3.78 SIERA over 223 innings in 2016. He upped his strikeout rate to 21.2 percent this season while lowering his opponent's BABIP to .269, a career best.
