Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (knee, hamstring) is in the Royals' lineup Sunday against the Cleveland Indians.
Perez is serving as the team's designated hitter and batting cleanup on Sunday, despite suffering from some nagging knee and hamstring injuries lately. Drew Butera is catching and batting ninth.
Perez is having a down year at the plate, slashing .247/.286/.438 with a .307 wOBA across 542 plate appearances. He does have a career high 22 homers, but his strikeout rate has also climbed to a career-worst 21.8 percent in 2016.
