Indians refute report, claim Michael Brantley (shoulder) will be ready for spring training

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley (shoulder) is expected "to be ready for spring training," said president of basketball operations Chris Antonetti, refuting an earlier report from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports that claimed Brantley (shoulder) could miss "significant time" next season.

What It Means:

Brantley is rehabbing from a second right shoulder surgery and Heyman's report suggested the process could linger past Opening Day next season, but Antonetti and the Indians do not concur. The Indians would seem to have a better gauge on their own player's status than Brantley, but there's a lot of grey area regarding his timetable to return.

Brantley only played 11 games in the majors this season, and he did not hit well, slashing .231/.279/.282 in 43 plate appearances. He posted a .389 wOBA in 2014 and followed it up with a .368 wOBA in 2015.
