Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring) is batting second on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners.
It will be the first start for Bregman since September 14, when he suffered a right hamstring strain while running the bases. Houston initially thought the 22-year-old top prospect might be done for the year, but he connected for a pinch-hit RBI single on Tuesday night to spark a big rally against Seattle and he will start at third base on Wednesday afternoon.
Bregman has flashed some promise through 212 plate appearances as a rookie, slashing .260/.311/.480 with a .335 wOBA on a 32.9 percent hard-hit rate.
