Jefry Marte blasts grand slam as Angels trounce Oakland
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jefry Marte crushed a grand slam as part of a 2-for-4 day from the dish as the Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 8-1.
The Angels were up 1-0 in the fourth inning when Marte stepped up with the bases loaded and crushed a Daniel Mengden offering to center field to clear the bases and put Los Angeles up 5-0.
Through 267 plate appearances this year, Marte is slashing .251/.307/.461 with a .327 wOBA and .210 ISO -- all improvements from his 2015 rookie numbers.
