Nationals' Mark Melancon records 43rd save of the season
Washington Nationals closer Mark Melacon picked up a save as the Nationals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-7 on Sunday.
That's save number 43 on the season for Melancon, who took only 12 pitches to turn in a perfect ninth inning.
Melancon has a 1.74 ERA with a 2.91 SIERA on the season, and his 24.0 percent strikeout rate and 4.7 percent walk rate through 67 1/3 innings are both better than his career averages.
