Jaime Garcia earns start for Cardinals on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia will start on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds.
What It Means:
Adam Wainwright is being moved back a day and Garcia is taking Luke Weaver's spot in the rotation. Garcia was demoted to the bullpen last week but he had a good showing on Wednesday, where he struck out five and logged four innings of scoreless relief work. It appears he has earned another shot.
Garcia has been a different pitcher post-All Star break, posting a 5.43 ERA in 69 2/3 innings. For the season he has a 4.59 ERA and a 3.90 SIERA over 170 2/3 innings and 29 starts.
