Astros' Lance McCullers (elbow) throws bullpen session
Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers (elbow) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Thursday.
It remains unknown whether or not McCullers will return this season, but it sounds like he's progressing in the right direction. A mild elbow sprain has sidelined the 22-year-old right-hander since August 2.
McCullers has an ERA of 3.22 and his xFIP this season is 3.04. He does own a 1.54 WHIP, but his strikeout rate has been phenomenal at 30.1 percent, to go along with a 1.42 nERD on the season.
