Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz experiencing problems with arm strength

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Aledmys Diaz is having issues with arm strength, manager Mike Matheny said.

What It Means:

Diaz recently missed six weeks with a hairline fracture in his right thumb. Matheny said trainers noticed Diaz's throwing motion had been altered during Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies. Jedd Gyorko is starting at shortstop for St. Louis, but Diaz is expected back Wednesday.

Diaz owns a .303/.386/.516 slash during his first year in the majors. He's combined that with 16 home runs and 61 RBI's across 426 plate appearances.
