Khris Davis scratched from Athletics' lineup Tuesday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Khris Davis was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday due to an illness.
Davis reportedly came down with some flu-like symptoms towards the end of an 0-for-4 showing against the Houston Astros in Monday's series opener. Danny Valencia will start in right while Jake Smolinski holds down left field for Oakland.
The 28-year-old Davis is slashing .252/.307/.529 through 573 plate appearances this season, with a .351 wOBA and .277 ISO. His 40 home runs are fourth-most in the majors and shattered his previous career-high of 27.
