Detroit Tigers third baseman Nick Castellanos felt lingering discomfort in his fractured left hand while facing live pitching Monday at the Tigers' spring training complex in Florida.
It wouldn't be as big of a deal earlier in the year, but the setback comes at an inopportune time with the Tigers quickly facing elimination from postseason contention. Castellanos will be limited to regular batting practice for the time being. He hasn't played since August 6 due to a fractured hand.
Castellanos is having a career year from the dish, slashing .286/.331/.500 with a career-high .350 wOBA and .214 ISO through 432 plate appearances.
