Rays' Steven Souza might need surgery
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Steven Souza will visit a specialist in Nashville on Monday due to an ailing left hip.
Souza missed a month earlier in the season with a hip issue and he has been playing through pain for some time now. He has been crushing the ball in September with a .313 average, but it's possible that his hip issue could require surgery.
Souza is slashing .244/.302/.408 with a .307 wOBA over 464 plate appearances this season. He has 17 homers and 49 RBI's, but his strikeout rate of 34.3 percent is a career-worst mark.
