Bartolo Colon goes seven scoreless in Mets' win

New York Mets starting pitcher Bartolo Colon threw seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

What It Means:

Colon brought it on Friday night, allowing only three singles on the night, while walking two and striking out six batters. Originally Colon was only supposed to provide some depth to the Mets rotation, but the 43 year-old has been a key cog in New York this season.

In 177 2/3 innings pitched this season, Colon has a 3.14 ERA. He also has a 4.23 xFIP and a 4.44 SIERA, which are both his worst marks since the 2009 season, so the defense has definitely been on their toes behind him this season. Right-handers have especially had trouble against Colon with a .287 wOBA.
