Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Trevor May has been shut down for the remainder of the season after experiencing a back flareup.
May has been bothered by the back all season. The 26-year-old right-hander had a rough 2016 campaign, but should get another opportunity to join the Twins' rotation heading into next season.
May twirled a 5.27 ERA and career-high 32.1 strikeout percentage across 42 2/3 innings this season. He punched out 12.66 batters per nine frames on the year, a significant spike from last year's 8.63 clip.
