Rays' Kevin Kiermaier tallies four hits, adds pair of moonshots
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier finished 4-for-5 with two home runs in a loss to the New York Yankees on Thursday.
Kiermaier recorded his first home run in the opening frame and then mashed another in the third. The 26-year-old outfielder is in the midst of a scorching 12-game hitting streak that has included four dingers and eight RBI's. (54 plate appearances). With an impressive combination of both power and speed, to go with stellar defense in the outfield, Kiermaier should be a regular in the Rays' lineup. Consistency has been the issue.
Kiermaier is hitting .249/.329/.434 with a career-high 11 longballs and 16 steals in 334 appearances at the plate this season. His .329 wOBA is much improved from last year's .309 mark.
