Maikel Franco (thumb) out of Phillies' lineup Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco (thumb) is out of the starting lineup again on Thursday against the Washington Nationals.
Over the weekend, Franco jammed his right thumb and it's possible he made it worse by playing through it against the Miami Marlins on Monday and Tuesday. This will be his second straight missed game. Andres Blanco -- and his .321 wOBA -- will replace him at third base and hit third on Thursday.
It has been a bit of a rough year from the dish for Franco, who is slashing .246/.298/.423 through 547 plate appearances. His .304 wOBA and .177 ISO are big steps down from his 2015 numbers. We project Franco to hit three more home runs and post a .729 OPS over the remaining course of the season.
