Mets, Tim Tebow agree to minor league contract
The New York Mets signed former quarterback Tim Tebow to a minor league contract.
Tebow will begin his professional baseball career next week in Port St. Lucie, Florida at the Mets' instructional league. The quarterback flameout displayed impressive power at the plate last month in Los Angeles during a showcase workout for roughly 20 major league clubs. The 29-year-old likely won't make it past Low-A ball.
The Mets are currently 74-66 and rank 11th in numberFire's MLB Team Power Rankings. They are 8.5 games back of the Washington Nationals in the National League East and our models give them a 69.8 percent chance of making the postseason.
