Washington's Joe Ross (shoulder) scheduled to throw simulated game
Washington Nationals pitcher Joe Ross (shoulder) is expected to throw a simulated game consisting of about 80 pitches later this week.
Ross threw 42 pitches in a three-inning rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, and had enough left in the tank for a 20-pitch bullpen session afterwards. The Nationals are taking a very conservative approach with the 23-year-old's return from his shoulder injury.
Through 16 major league games this year, Ross has posted a 3.49 ERA and 4.17 SIERA, while he owns a 19.8 percent strikeout rate and 6.5 percent walk rate over 95 1/3 innings pitched.
