Boston Red Sox infielder Yoan Moncada will sit Wednesday night.
Moncada has struck out in his last seven trips to the plate, with three coming Monday and then another four Tuesday. That gives the uber-talented 21-year-old 10 strikeouts through his first 18 major league plate appearances. Manager John Farrell said Moncada just needs a mental break.
Moncada has logged five games of big league action, recording four hits (one double) with three runs scored and one RBI. He recorded a 25.25 strikeout percentage in 124 minor league plate appearances this season.
