Detroit activates Jordan Zimmermann from the disabled list
The Detroit Tigers activated pitcher Jordan Zimmermann from the 15-day disabled list.
Zimmermann made a rehab start on Monday with Triple-A Toledo and allowed seven runs -- two earned -- in 4 2/3 innings. He remains on schedule to return to Detroit's starting rotation on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles, but fantasy owners might want to consider sitting him in that one. A lat issue has limited the 30 year-old to only one start in the second half. Zimmermann owns a 4.44 ERA in 97 1/3 innings this season, his first with the Tigers.
Zimmermann's 4.71 xFIP is a career-worst and the first time he's posted a total above 3.92. His 14.6 strikeout percentage is also a career-worst and well below league average (21.0 percent). We project Zimmermann to record a 4.66 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over the rest of the year.
