Billy Hamilton to be reevaluated in five-to-seven days for Reds

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton (oblique) will be reevaluated in five-to-seven days, manager Bryan Price said Monday.

What It Means:

A strained left oblique forced Hamilton out of Sunday's contest early, and Price said the injury "may not be a season-ender." Regardless, at the very least, it looks like Hamilton will be shut down for a couple days. At this point in the year, the Reds don't need to add him to the disabled list, which creates a tricky roster scenario for fantasy owners. Jose Peraza received the start in center field on Monday and hit leadoff. In mixed fantasy leagues, this opportunity makes him an intriguing play. Peraza owns a .340 wOBA this season.

Although Hamilton is slashing just .260/.321/.343 in 460 plate appearances this year, they are significant improvements over his totals from the past two seasons. His 58 stolen bases are a career-high and currently the most in baseball.
