Evan Longoria leaves game for Rays after being hit by a pitch
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria left Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles with a sore right hand.
In the bottom of the first inning, Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez hit Longoria with a pitch in his right hand. He didn't immediately leave the game and managed to score during the first inning, but Longoria eventually was forced to come out. This looks like a day-to-day situation. Longoria is slashing .282/.330/.537 in 572 plate appearances this season.
Longoria is quietly having an impressive season, hitting 31 home runs, while posting a .255 ISO and a .360 wOBA. We project him to hit four more taters and post a .790 OPS over the rest of the year.
