Yankees talks for Craig Kimbrel reportedly breakdown
Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees talks to acquire Padres closer Craig Kimbrel have broken down but Marlins reliever Carter Capps is an option.
Craig Kimbrel is third in the MLB with 30 saves to go along with a 2.68 ERA and 2.50 xFIP. However Capps would make a fine pickup as well for the Yankees. He has been stellar this year with a 1.21 ERA and 0.97 xFIP while striking out 50 percent of the 112 batters he has faced. Capps tops Kimbrel in our nERD metric, which represents the number of runs a pitcher is preventing above a league-average pitcher per game, with a 1.56 nERD versus Kimbrel's 1.17.
