Carlos Martinez walks five over six innings in Cardinals' win
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez allowed five walks while giving up two hits against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, but still managed to pick up the win as the Cardinals went on to a 5-2 victory.
Martinez was coming off of a very impressive three-game stretch going into this one, during which he had allowed only three runs with 25 strikeouts through 21 innings.
While his 3.07 ERA is solid, Martinez is sporting a career-high 4.06 SIERA on the year. He also owns a 21.1 percent strikeout rate and 9.0 percent walk rate through 164 1/3 innings pitched on the year.
