Joey Votto day-to-day for Reds with stiff neck
Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is not in Friday's lineup due to a stiff neck.
We reported earlier that Votto was absent from Friday's lineup and now we know why. Votto is being considered day-to-day, so it's likely he'll be back in the lineup over the weekend at some point. Ivan De Jesus -- and his .249 wOBA -- will get the start at first base Friday.
Votto's numbers this year aren't up to par with his totals from 2015, but he's still having an impressive season, slashing .309/.430/.524 with 22 home runs and a .401 wOBA (seventh-best) in 549 plate appearances. We project him to hit five more taters and post an impressive .928 OPS over the remaining course of the season.
